Forgetfulness Sabotaging Your Success?

There it was: the sole survivor. I remember how beautiful they were as a bouquet, but now only one rose stood one week later. I was elated because it was proof that I was NOT the plant killer! However, I didn’t realize it was also a life lesson on how forgetfulness can sabotage your success. Let me explain.

During the same evening, I was reviewing my business finances from the previous year to complete legal paperwork. What I thought would be an arduous task, brought me much pleasure I as reminisced over the different projects and contracts completed.

I remembered how particular projects seemed to fall in my lap or what an amazing launch a client had. I looked at the amounts and smiled as I remembered what I initially charged when I first started my business. And then it hit me.

Just a short time ago, I was overwhelmed, depressed and started questioning whether I should quit and stop everything. Doubt crept in and I forgot all of the wins from a short time ago. Based on the evidence in these documents, which didn’t include upcoming projects, I was out of my mind!

I was SABOTAGING my SUCCESS because I simply forgot my track record.

Life has seasons, which include fluctuations. You cannot allow a downturn or dry period serve as evidence of impending failure. As a matter of fact, if you are in a dry season, this is evidence that an upswing is ahead.

I realized in that moment that I was that lone rose. I was familiar with being alone, defying the odds and creating solutions. Actually, that is what clients hire me to do and I do it well.

So what are you forgetting about your track record and what you are really made of? What were the “hopeless” situations that you managed to survive and create magic from? You are still the same person, only wiser and with more experience. Doubt and circumstances are no match to the gifts that lie within you!

Oh, how soon we forget.
