As the cliché says, failing to plan is planning to fail, but sometimes you backup/replacement plan erases your potential. Let me explain how:
Jeremiah 29:11, NIV “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
- How many of us, when we pursue the desires of our heart, petition God to direct and lead us?
- How many of us ask Him, “is this your desire or mine”?
- How many of us are praying for God’s desires to be fulfilled in our lives?
- As you go through trials, do you encourage yourself with the Word of God, confident that He is holding your hand and there are blessings awaiting you at the end?
Real Talk: most of us rest secure in the fact that we are His children and every desire we have automatically comes from Him. Any good thing that we pursue, we believe He will bless along with our Plan B, C, etc. When failure seems to be imminent, we fervently pray, believing He will bail us out. Here is the problem:
Your planning system could be overriding the plans of God.
Think this is far-fetched? How many “good ideas” have you had, including backup plans, you now regret? Do you remember being so sure about that thing, only to reflect and ask, “What was I thinking”?!! Nothing is wrong with planning; the Bible encourages us to do so.* But if your plans do not align with the will of God, you may accomplish a lot of wonderful things, but you will never have the expected end that He desires for you. God forbid!
This week, seek God and ask for His guidance so you can fulfill His plans for your life. Alignment is everything!
