I’m so sick of saying I’m sorry. Actually, I’m PISSED OFF! Why?
It sickens me that after all the modern inventions, technology, advancements, and liberties, we have not ended abuse and trauma. As a child abuse survivor and publisher, it sickens me that the stories of survivors coupled with the depravity of humanity is never-ending. But it gets worse.
As a woman in media and business, you cannot imagine the #MeToo movement and unwanted advances I receive. No, I’m not talking about harmless flirtations but the sheer audacity of sickos, perverts, and men in the position of power that don’t seem to understand the word NO. Let’s not talk about the indecent proposal for late evening and night “meetings” that, if accepted, would end in rape. I’m talking about the type of advances and words that make your skin crawl when you’re at the table for BUSINESS!
My biggest fear is for our daughters and young women. I am so fearful of the young, unsuspecting women who think someone has taken an interest in them professionally, only to end in a compromising position. Where is there protection? Who is going to heal them from the shame, pain, and guilt after the assault and trauma?
Yeah, I am so sick of having to say I’m sorry to these women because, as a society, we should be better than this. Abuse, trauma, rape, and sexual assault are not okay against anyone. I can’t help but think, if this was more of a male issue, would it be tolerated as much? Share your thoughts by commenting below.
