Your Truth Deserves Room to Be Heard

Amplifying truth.
Elevating voices.
Creating change.

Black Women Speak Up™ brings Black women honest conversations, shared wisdom, and meaningful insight to help us name what we have lived, trust what we know, and use our voices with greater clarity and freedom.

This growing media and community platform includes original commentary, candid conversations, opportunities for connection, and the forthcoming Black Women Speak Up™ Podcast, hosted by Alesha Brown The Joy Guru.

Our Purpose

Why Black Women Speak Up™

Black women are often expected to remain composed, protect everyone else’s comfort, and carry difficult experiences quietly. Over time, that pressure can teach us to edit ourselves, question what we know, or feel alone in what we have lived.

Your voice is not the problem.

You deserve conversations that reflect the fullness of Black women’s lives—without reducing us to struggle, requiring us to perform strength, or asking us to make our truth more comfortable for everyone else.

An award-winning publisher, author, speaker, and media professional, Alesha has spent years helping women find their voices, tell the truth about what they have survived, and turn lived experience into purpose, authority, and impact.

Known publicly as Alesha Brown The Joy Guru, she founded Black Women Speak Up™ to create the kind of honest, affirming, and challenging space too many Black women have needed but have not always found.
