As my family and I brace for a minor snowstorm, I am reflecting on the awesomeness of my life. If there are any bragging rights, I brag on the awesomeness of God because everything else defies reason.
When I think about even the events of today, I was thinking about the awesomeness of being able to look across the globe and see my publishing, ghostwriting, and editing work dating several years. Simultaneously, I was watching a celebrity biography and laughed when I thought about the fact that I had just interviewed that celebrity last year. I ended up being the celebrity interview/journalist of the first media outlet that interviewed him after the unexpected death of his son.
In the past week, I have been plastered with multiple sponsored ads with my image for upcoming publishing conferences that I am speaking at, emails from industry magazines & journals sharing my articles that I am a paid contributing writer for, and invitations to partner with other publishing organizations. And that is just what I can publicly talk about, but the other events are HUGE & I can’t wait until I can share those! Thank God for wisdom because, in my meditation time, I realized that this is exactly how it is supposed to be.
The sacrifice, the long hours, the failures, the tears, the money spent, the continued education and training, the relationships, the networking: it was all for NOW. I am most proud of the warrior/survivor that I am. When I think about how I survived:
- A near fatal car accident before the pandemic
- Had spinal fusion surgery during the first year of the pandemic to avoid permanent paralysis
- Had emergency surgery during year two of the pandemic while being a part-time caretaker for a family member that also had emergency surgeries
- Survived over two decades of excruciating pain from head to toe
- Survived 17 years of child abuse and didn’t commit suicide as a means of escape
- No COVID, even after my December cruise (knock on wood)
And that’s the short list! As I sit with my family to enjoy the delicious meal I prepared and a night of entertainment while we wait on the storm, I am truly the wealthiest person in the world. If you have love, joy, peace, a roof over your head, and are blessed to live in your purpose, you are one of the WEALTHIEST people in the world!
Life has its sorrow, pain, betrayals, and losses, but the opposite is also true. There is an abundance of life, love, joy, laughter, purpose, fulfillment, and so much more in every single day. I am just blessed to be able to take in these moments, reflect on the wins, and lead those I am assigned to towards their greatness & purpose.
I am thankful for my resolve NEVER to compromise, degrade myself, or lower my moral and spiritual standards to achieve any level of success. I refuse to be brought or “passed around” in order to excel or fast-track anything. (I have turned down some of the wealthiest & influential men, and I DO NOT regret that!) And, I know that my blessings are in part courtesy of praying grandparents and ancestors who God honors their prayers & fasting now. I am beyond grateful, and the best is yet to come.
